Flu Birds

Official Synopsis:
An insidious and deadly virus has infected a species of giant birds, turning them into vicious predators. As the birds descend on an entire town, killing its inhabitants one by one, six unsuspecting teens must fight for their lives and retreat to a military bunker on the outskirts of town. It is the only safe haven that will keep the birds from killing them... or will it?

Our Take:
I welcome the day when the Sci-Fi Channel actually makes a cheap yet fun little science fiction flick. Flu Birds, as you could have guessed, is far from that dream. It is, instead, another cheaply conceived horror flick where the only redeeming factor is its ridiculous concept.

Flu Birds is the type of movie that has such bad dialogue that the writers actually wrote in words that sounded like the proper word but were in fact more of an allusion to that word with a completely different but “clever” meaning behind it. What I mean by this is that at one point a counselor is talking to his band of teenagers when he goes to call them “fledgling criminals” what he actually says is “fledgling teenagers,” fledgling being an obvious reference to a growth pattern in birds. The fact that every line of dialogue is annoying to listen to, yet the writers still found time to put in these little references is ludicrous.

There are no special features included on this disc.

While I did find a bit of fun in watching these giant, mutated dinosaur-looking birds murder people, that’s the extent of any pleasure anyone will be able to take away from this movie. Flu Birds is yet another clunker in the made-for-TV market.
